Old postcards of Oleśnica
Oleśnica is a very old city dating back to the 12th century. Polish, Czech and German culture left a great impress on it.
Oleśnica has been an important trade settlement and the capital of a duchy. You can find here a number of unique historical monuments. The most important are Wrocław Gate and fortifications from the 14th century, the Oleśnica Castle erected in 1542-1616 on the ruins of Gothic walls, a 16th century Town Hall, a church and a synagogue.
Before World War II - Oleśnica was a "Pearl of Third Reich".
The first postcards of Oleśnica were printed already in the end of XIXc. Here you can find a part of these beautiful postcards.
